Do you want to invest in your personal development? Are there emotional wellness goals you would like to achieve, but are not sure how to go about it? Then you need to try Life Coaching!

What is Life Coaching?
But what does life coaching actually mean? I define life coaching as a supportive process where we (coach and coachee) work together to tackle your challenges and explore your current situation in order to achieve your goals. I'm here as your life coach to help you every step of the way. I'll ask questions, support you in achieving your goals, focus on your strengths, and teach you helpful techniques - kind of like a personal trainer, but for your mind!
If you are looking for a more formal definition, then check out The Association for Coaching. They define coaching as a facilitated, dialogic, and reflective learning process that aims to grow the individual's (or team's) awareness, responsibility, and choice (thinking and behavioural) (AFC, n.d.).

What’s In It For You?
"Life coaching can be fantastic for goal attainment, insight, and learning. In this particular study (Grant, 2008), 29 trainee coaches took a 10-12 week program. They set personal goals and attended five sessions, after which the coach and coachee completed a structured reflection exercise. This led to reduced anxiety, increased goal attainment, and higher levels of personal insight for participants. The coachees also received higher end-of-semester marks compared to peers who hadn't participated in the coaching program."
If your goal is to focus on your emotional well-being, then life coaching can be beneficial to you. Currently, over 1 in 7 (15.5%) of UK adults say their mental health is either bad or the worst it has ever been (Jamie Braithwaite, 2024). Fortunately, there have been studies conducted on the effects of coaching on overall well-being and happiness (Style & Boniwell, 2012), which have yielded significant results. Forty participants were randomly assigned to either attend regular coaching workshops or a control group that met once a week as an unstructured group. The results showed that while all participants who attended experienced increased general happiness, satisfaction with life, self-efficacy, hope, and emotional well-being, the results were more significant for the coaching group.

Life Coaching is a wonderful way to practise emotional wellness, as it can help you achieve your goals, support your personal development, and improve your general happiness.
